If you didn't have your ticket before, you need to get one now. Slam Dunk have just made their second band announcement, and it's big.
Don Broco are announced to be playing as a U.K. festival exclusive. Fresh off a massive tour with the ever growing Bring Me The Horizon, these boys are going to be fun, and it seems that no stage can contain them anymore.
Bowling For Soup are also on the bill. If any band fit the bill for what you'd expect at Slam Dunk, it'd be these guys. Music as joyous and funny as the day it first came out, I can't wait to lose my mind to "Punk Rock 101" and "Girl All The Bad Guys Want", amongst others.
Less Than Jake. Yup. They'll bring energy like you've never experienced, coupled with sheer fun and stage presence, to make your day even more fun.
Reel Big Fish are bringing the horn section along. Always a blast (pun intended) to watch these guys whip a crowd into a frenzy with their kinetic ska vibes.
There's a tradition developing around here these days. Last year, it was Yellowcard (RIP) playing the mighty "Ocean Avenue" in full, this year sees two bands playing an album in full. One of these are Cute Is What We Aim For, who are playing the almost quintessential "emo" album, "The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch" in full. I, for one, cannot wait to sing "I've got the gift of one liners, and you've got the curse of curves" at the top of my voice, and generally lose my mind as they tear through "The Fourth Drink Instinct" and "There's A Class For This".
Last but not least, this announcement sees We The Kings back on these fair lands. Expect massive hooks and even bigger crowds, all singing along and dancing to the infectious fun this band can provide.
The above bands all join headliners, Enter Shikari, who will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the explosion that was "Take To The Skies" by playing it in full. There is possibly no band that can do what Shikari do, and TTTS is an album that inspired more bands to extend their music beyond the cliques and tropes, to include influences from other music types. TTTS is the album that kickstarted Rou Reynolds, Rory C, Batty C and Sgt. Rolfy's journey into "abusing music genres". Screams, "Motherstep/Mothership", and THAT hand clap are all waiting for you, in what may well be Enter Shikari's only shows of 2017.
All of the above bands will be playing at Slam Dunk North, South, and Midlands, in what has been promised as "bigger and better" versions of their current venues, with Birmingham's being even bigger than last year's "biggest Slam Dunk" on record.
